Charming Elwood - Suburb Profile

Elwood, a sought after, canal-side suburb, close to the city and the sea!

Leafy Elwood has a warm community feel. It’s village-like character and easygoing beach-life caters for all generations, being just moments from St Kilda and very close to the City.

Elwood’s romantic charm is created by one of Melbourne’s most famous street name clusters, the ‘poets corner.’ On Elwood street signs you’ll find Dickens, Tennyson, Keats, Lawson, Wordsworth and more! To compliment this theme there is a must-see quirky bookshop, The Grumpy Swimmer. (We found the home section!)

Elwood is passionate about their cafe culture. The shopping villages in Elwood provide plenty of choice when it comes to weekend brunch! However one of our favourite hotspots, Jerry’s Milk Bar, stands solo on Barkly Street, amongst homes and not other shops. Jerry’s Milk Bar is a stand out, with cherry red stools, old school charm, tasty coffee and the friendliest of staff.

There is colour and character everywhere you look in Elwood. The tree-lined streets comprise of a mixture of properties including Edwardian mansions, newer developments and art deco apartments. You'll find established and young families, as well as young professionals living in Elwood.

Who couldn’t fall in love with the leafy and literacy streets of Elwood? We certainly did.
